Before establishing Feagans LLC, Derek accumulated over two decades of legal experience. He spent ten years at prominent national and international law firms and another ten years serving as general counsel for companies in industries such as advertising, pharmaceuticals, medical services, retail, and investment banking.
Most recently, Derek was Senior Legal Counsel for a large publicly traded bank, where he specialized in commercial banking and lending. His extensive expertise encompasses various lending areas including: C&I Lending, Small Business Banking, Equipment Financing, and Real Estate Lending.
Derek’s diverse background enables him to combine insights from multiple fields, identify creative solutions, and recognize opportunities. Clients benefit from his comprehensive understanding of senior leadership’s inner workings and pressures, allowing him to anticipate their needs effectively. His team-oriented leadership, honed during his time as a collegiate athlete, facilitates close collaboration with various departments within a client’s business to ensure the achievement of goals.

Additionally, Derek is a graduate of the FBI Citizen’s Academy, a program designed to foster understanding and collaboration between the FBI and community leaders. These accolades underscore his commitment to both professional excellence and meaningful civic engagement.
Derek earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from Avila University, where he was a member of the university’s basketball team. He is licensed to practice law in Kansas and Missouri.
